This Week's Message
Scripture Reference: 2 Kings 2:1-13 (NIV)
Pastor Mitch continued our Sowtember journey with a powerful challenge to examine our willingness to serve, follow, and remain faithful to the assignment God has given us.
In 2 Kings 2, Elisha repeatedly had opportunities to stop following Elijah. Yet every time Elijah told him to stay behind, Elisha refused to leave. His commitment carried him from Gilgal to Bethel, Jericho, and finally the Jordan and at each stop, God was developing something within him.
Elisha’s journey reminds us that our calling must become more important than our comfort.
This message has 4 key points:
Gilgal — Roll With God
There are seasons when following God requires flexibility.
Bethel — Serve in His House
Bethel reminds us of the importance of serving faithfully in the house of God.
Jericho — Serve Until It’s Dark
There will be moments when serving becomes difficult.
Jordan — Follow Even When You Don’t Know How
Sometimes God will lead us to places where our ability ends and faith has to take over.
Our responsibility is simply to keep following.
This week, intentionally sow yourself through service.
Look for an opportunity to serve in your home, God’s house, your community, or someone else’s life without needing recognition or anything in return.
